<image:caption>Use a pattern like this to train the horse to use its body evenly. Ensure you set your distances appropriate to your individual horses needs. This graphic indicates a standard 1.30m trot distance but some horse may need a longer or shorter distance for their working trot. It can be scaled right back to walk poles or scaled up to raised trot poles while incorporating a canter transition after the trot line and a single canter pole on either side of the loop. Adjust your training to your horses needs.</image:caption>

<image:title>AML BLOG - When Your Horse Lacks Proprioception - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>This pattern has been tried and tested as one of my favourite exercises to set up for horses who lack focus, are adrenalised and psychologically disconnect from their body, ready to run. A pattern like this one requires them to change pace, change the shape of their body as they travel and execute transitions. It can be scaled up or down in intensity which makes it a great pattern to start in walk, work through in hand and then ride to its full level of options.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A simple square is a great option for training young or green horses when asking them to be more mentally connected to their body. While it’s a small amount of poles, the lines are technical enough to ask more of them mentally but not so much it causes overwhelm.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Another client kicking massive goals in learning how to be the leader her horse needs her to be. This mare is a dominant mare who often takes over the leadership role until recently. She has been a pigrooting, bolting, rearing opinionated little horse until her owner learnt how to own her space. Riding over a tarp one handed while holding an umbrella is not something they could have done until her owner/rider learnt how to be the leader her horse needed her to be. This particular owner fell into the ‘fun friend’ category but she has now fully stepped into her role as the leader.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Irish! My little homebred Warmblood x TB. Extremely noise sensitive so he wears a Hydez hood when training new things so I can keep his focus on me. This little horse has probably taught me more about managing my own body language than any other horse… and to date I have broken in and trained over 200 horses. This little fella was very easy at first but after he suffered a few self inflicted bad injuries, building his trust in new environments has been a challenge. This horse makes me a better person and a better trainer.</image:caption>

He can be suspicious and sensitive to anyone who moves too fast or is too loud. PK stays with me forever and is written into my will.</image:caption>
